
Sherry Nadine Rump, 86, Williamsville, Illinois died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
Born March 21, 1939, in Biggsville, Illinois, she was the daughter of Merle Lynn and Katherine Merle Kelly. She graduated from Burlington Community High School in 1957.
April 23, 1960, she married Richard Leon Rump at St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church in Burlington, Iowa and they were married for 60 years until his passing in 2021.
From 1972 to 1987, she and Richard were the owner/managers of two Convenient Food Marts in Canton, Illinois. After moving to Arizona in 1992, she worked for Wal-Mart in Phoenix and Prescott for 15 years.
She was a member of St. John’s Parish in Burlington, St. Mary’s in Canton, and Sacred Heart in Prescott. Sherry enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, genealogy, and decorating for the holidays.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Rump (Regina), Williamsville, Kenneth Rump, Buckeye, Arizona, and Donald Rump, Springfield, Illinois; one daughter, Barbara Tompkins, Florence, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Amber Dorn, who they raised, Kenny Rump, Amanda Tompkins, Robert Tompkins, Kathleen (Benjamin) VonDerHaar, Allison (Nicholas) Rankovich and Christopher Rump; eight great-grandchildren; Logan Dorn, Alice, Rozlynn, Emery and Mateo Tompkins, Josalynn Barnett, Kieran and Liam VonDerHaar; one brother, Fred Kelly (Margret), West Burlington, two sisters, Kay (Robert) Kramer, Burlington, Margie Royer, West Burlington and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The funeral service for Mrs. Rump will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street, with Fr. Jake Greiner officiating. A private family burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.
