Victor Rudolph Clegg Sr., 88, of Burlington, Iowa died April 26, 2023 in Kansas City, Mo.
Born Sept. 10, 1934 in Poplar Bluff, Mo., he was the son of Vernon Giles and Lillie Mae Rankin. Victor was raised by his step-father Curtis Clegg.
He attended Burlington High School, but received his diploma while serving in the U.S. Air Force. He enlisted in August of 1952 and was honorably discharged as Airman 1st Class in May of 1963. Following service to his country, he became a machine shop setup and repairman at JI Case Company.
He was a member of U.A.W Local 807 Union, V.F.W Post 10102 and Union Baptist Full Gospel Fellowship Church. Victor enjoyed life and family. He was an artist who expressed his talent in paintings, drawings and photography. In his later years he volunteered at a Senior Center where he was loved by all.
Survivors include his daughters, Helene Clegg of Clarksville Tenn., Yolanda Brown of Aubrey Texas, Brigitte (Jason) Thomas of Kansas City Mo., Davota Clegg of Detroit Mich., and Vernet Bright (Scott) Diehl of Burlington; sons, Victor Clegg Jr of Cedar Rapids and Louis (Vivan) Clegg of Phoenix Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; 18 (soon to be 19) great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Sands of Miami, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, his sister and one son.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The funeral service for Mr. Clegg will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.
