Frances “Fran” Jackson, 93, of Burlington, died Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at her home.

Born November 2, 1932, in Memphis, Missouri, she was the daughter of Harold Sr. and Flora (Stoneking) Daniels. She was the oldest of eleven children. When she was fifteen her parents took her family on a vacation. They ended up in Kimball, Nebraska where Fran’s boyfriend, Floyd Dean Jackson, was working for the summer.

Her parents decided it was truly time for her to get married and the family returned home without Fran. Fran and Dean were married that same day at the courthouse on July 26, 1948. Fran’s parents knew true love when they saw it. The marriage lasted 64 years, when Dean passed away.

Fran completed the 8th grade at Memphis High School. She worked briefly at an egg hatchery. She then worked part time as a food handler at Sunnyside Elementary School for 13 years in addition to helping her friend clean offices.

She never learned to drive and walked everywhere in town. She was involved with the Washington Elementary School PTA and Girl Scouts. She loved watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed quilting and made beautiful quilts for all her children and grandchildren.

Fran and Dean loved camping, and their favorite site was in Estes Park, Colorado. She also loved reading Harlequin romance books and collecting bells, teapots and glass vases.

She is survived by her two daughters, Judith (Timothy) Jackson of Danville and Debra (Joseph) Ertzinger of Burlington; one son David (Diana) Jackson of Berthoud, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Dawn (Brad) Heald, Timmera (Mike) Huston, Angie (Matt) Nunn, Melissa (Brian) Colbeck, Baret (Sydney) Ertzinger, Coleman Ertzinger and Brody Ertzinger; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother Roger Daniels; one sister Carol Morrison and several nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers, Arthur Daniels, John Daniels, Jim Daniels, Larry Daniels, Harold Daniels Jr. and Terry Daniels and two sisters, Joyce Daniels and Jerry Daniels.

The funeral service for Fran will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 30 at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. David Mixon will officiate. Burial will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.  Fran so loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, so please wear your favorite Hawkeye gear.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 29 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.

A memorial has been established for the Special Needs Foundation.
