John Taylor Hull, Jr., 79, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Aug. 26, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 10, 1946, to John Taylor Hull, Sr. and Bertha Birkenstock Hull. John attended Burlington Community High School and later proudly served his country in the Iowa National Guard from Jan. 1, 1964, through Dec. 31, 1970.
On Sept. 23, 1969, John married the love of his life, Sandra Jones Hull. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories over their 55 years of marriage.
John worked as a dedicated U.S. postal carrier for 33 years, retiring on April 1, 2002. In his youth, his interest was driving the latest muscle car. Throughout his life, he found joy in collecting sports memorabilia. Most of all, he treasured time spent with his family, who were the center of his world.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sandra; his sons, John Taylor Hull III and Mark Allen Hull; his stepdaughter, Lisa Ann Granados (David); his grandchildren, Anna Dorsey (Josh) and Zachary Hull (Michaela); along with several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Bertha Hull.
Per his wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.
A private burial will take place with Pastor Ron Jewett officiating. A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Flint Hills Nazarene Church in Burlington, Iowa.
