Sharon Elizabeth Schach Unzicker Parrish, 81, of Burlington, died Thursday, June 9, 2022, at her home.

Born August 10, 1940, in Burlington she was the daughter of Raymond and Betty Noel Schach.

Sharon graduated from Burlington High School in 1959 and she has helped organize many class reunions and the monthly class get-togethers.

She married Robert J. Unzicker on November 27, 1963; he died February 22, 1990. She married James L. Parrish on February 17, 1996; he died January 31, 2003.

Sharon was an assistant cashier at Farmers & Merchants Bank and Trust and retired after 27 years of service.

Sharon was a Member of Burlington Women’s Bowling Association for over 50 years. She was the president of the BWBA from 1992-2012 (20 years) plus held the offices of director and vice president. She was the secretary for the Tuesday & Friday senior leagues for many years. Sharon helped with the merger of both associations in 2017 and was elected 1st vice president and served as VP for one year. She was elected to the BWBA Hall of Fame in 1999. She received the Merit Award in 1993, the 10-year service award from the State Association in 2002, the WBA special award in 2012, and was the first woman to receive the Burlington Area Bowling Association service award in 2014. In 2022 Sharon was an inductee of the Iowa State Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Sharon helped organize the Youth Bowling Program and was a registered volunteer for youth weekly bowling for many years. She enjoyed league bowling, especially the senior leagues that she bowled in after retirement.

Besides bowling, Sharon enjoyed reading and Facebook. Most of all she enjoyed time with her grandchildren and attending their activities.
Survivors include her three children, Jan (Morgan Brockway) Kemp, James (Jennifer) Unzicker, and Ryan (Nikki) Parrish all of Burlington; six grandchildren, Matthew and Jason Kemp, Cale Unzicker, Alexis and Julia Brockway, and Dalton Howell; two sisters, Patricia Schach of Bradenton, Fla. and Connie (Chuck) Heuvelmann of West Burlington; brother-in-law, Jack Kelly of Burlington; sister-in-law, Linda (Albert) Heitz of Fort Madison; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and sister Judy Kelly.

The funeral service for Sharon will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Lunning Chapel with Reverend Judyann Morse officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. before the service. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Burlington Youth Bowling Program.
