Jack Thomas Burroughs, 14 of Burlington died Saturday, August 6, 2022 as the result of a car accident. 

Born July 12, 2008 he was the son of Chase Thomas and Sommer Elizabeth Moore Burroughs. He was baptized at St. Paul United Church of Christ in West Burlington. 

Jack graduated from Edward Stone Middle School and was entering Burlington High School as a freshman. This summer Jack was working with his dad in construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his brothers and sisters and was like a third parent to them. He also enjoyed time spent with his friends, good buddy Claytin and especially his girlfriend, Anica. Jack enjoyed going to the Iowa State Fair every year since he was three years old. He was a very positive youth and cared for everybody. He loved being outdoors, riding 4-wheelers and riding bikes. He could even do a ‘wheely” down the driveway. 

Survivors include his parents Chase and Sommer; siblings Jacob, Finley, Emrey, and Jace; maternal grandparents Debbie Moore of Burlington, Kelly and Sondra Moore of Lee’s Summit, Mo., paternal grandparents Thomas and Fran Burroughs of Burlington, great-grandfather Jimmy Moore of Clinton, Mo.; aunts Shelbie (James) Doty and Kelli (Joe) Sattler; cousins Whitney and Britney Doty, Brooke and Sam Sattler, Riley, Jacey, Caleb, Haley, and Brynley; great aunts, great uncles, cousins, step-aunts, step-uncles, and numerous friends. 

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Mark and Carolyn Nuss, Rosemary Moore, Jack and Helen Burroughs, and Kenneth and Mary Lou Wagner Sr. 

The funeral service for Jack will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 12, at Lunning Chapel with Judy Ann Morse officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 11 at Lunning Chapel with the family receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m. 

A memorial has been established.
