Bonnie Jean Worley died Monday, June 3, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
She was born August 2, 1939 in Allerton, Iowa, she was the daughter of Cleve and Fay (Early) Grimes. On Dec. 5, 1958, in Elk Point, South Dakota, she married Kenneth Lawrence Worley. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2008.
Bonnie attended Prairie City, Iowa elementary and high school. She worked at Look Magazine in Des Moines for several years before moving to Burlington with her husband. She and her husband Kenneth owned and operated Worley’s Asphalt & Paving for 29 years and owned Headlines, LTD for 46 years. She was a member of the Des Moines County Genealogical Society and the Iowa Genealogical Society. She was also a member of the Women’s Moose and worked on the United Way Construction Division for many years. Her hobbies were gardening, cooking, genealogy, NASCAR racing and her pets.
She is survived by her daughter Debra Worley of Burlington; step daughter Shirlene (Hugh) Gilbert of Indianola; brothers: David (Mona) Grimes of Dover, Tenn. and Steven (Betty Jo) Grimes of New London. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth; three brothers: Robert, Donald, and Michael Grimes; three sisters: Ruth Eckrich, Bertha Weber and Linda Kempf.
Per her wishes there will be no formal services. A private graveside service will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
