Betty A. McPherson, 100, of Burlington, died Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born April 24, 1923, in Burlington, she was the daughter of William and Hattie Trobee Lippert. She married Hartley Allen McPherson on May 1, 1943 in Kahoka, Mo. He died Sept. 30, 2011.

She was a 1941 graduate of Burlington High School. 

Her last employment was with James Madison School as the head cook. 

Jesus was most important to Betty, along with her family. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist. She was a Sunday School Teacher for 50 Years, a member of Mariam Circle and a Deaconess. Betty read her Bible daily, memorized and quoted many Scriptures. She was a Girl Scout Leader. She loved being a mother and enjoyed supporting her husband, children and grandchildren at their sporting events. 

Survivors include three children, Gary McPherson of Burlington Cynthia (Lynn) Decious of Anamosa and Mike (Alla) McPherson of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; Jason, Kristen, Dane, and Joshua; four great-grandchildren; Devon, Cole, Keigan, and Jaxtin; three great great-grandchildren; Ya'Zier, Isabella, and Cameron and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Clarence, Glenn, Oscar, Ralph, Walter and Donald, four sisters, Melva, Gladys, Ruth and Genevieve. 

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Oak Street Baptist Church, 1303 Oak Street, Burlington.

The Funeral Service for Betty McPherson will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Oak Street Baptist Church, 1303 Oak Street, Burlington.  Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.  

A memorial has been established for Oak Street Baptist Church.
