
Miriam A. Winter, 96, of Burlington, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, at her home.
Born Oct. 1, 1926, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Fred L. and Eva Arnold Oldt. On June 26, 1946, she married Frank E. Winter in Burlington. He died on March 21, 2014.
Miriam worked at IRC, Designer's Viewpoint, and was an account administrator for Standard Register. She retired in 1992.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was past president of Epsilon Sigma Alpha and active in King's Daughters.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Hilkin and Julie Winter both of Burlington; two grandchildren, John (Allison) Hilkin of Aurora, Colo., and Liz Hilkin of Gainesville, Fla.; two great-grandsons, Elliott and Desmond Hilkin of Aurora, Colo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Jessie Humphreys and Winnie Cline; and two brothers, Willis and Richard Oldt.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
The graveside service for Mrs. Winter will be Friday, March 24, 2023, in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the burial.
A memorial has been established for Des Moines County Humane Society.
