Burlington Pedestrian Killed By Vehicle

A Burlington pedestrian was hit by a car Friday night (Feb. 26) near Grove and Summer Streets Saturday night and later died at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

Jacob Sexton, 35, of Burlington, was walking on Summer Street north of the intersection of West Avenue when he was hit by a 2008 Chevy Malibu driven by Megan Kalar, 33, of Burlington, according to police. The accident occurred just after 9 p.m.

The Iowa State Patrol, which is handling the accident investigation, did not say if Sexton was crossing the street. Details were scant in the preliminary crash report issued by ISP, and the accident remains under investigation.

No further information was available Saturday afternoon.
