John David Hostetter, 98, of West Burlington, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, at his home in West Burlington.
Born April 2, 1926, in Pollock, Mo., he was the son of Henry W. and Mary L. Campbell Hostetter. On Oct. 5, 1946, he married Melbaline Hills in Burlington.
He worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant as an Operating Engineer for 50 years, retiring in 1996.
John was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed working in his yard and going to the casino in his free time.
John's family include his daughter, Pamela Ann Bergquist of West Burlington; grandchildren, John (Billie) Hostetter of Burlington, Brian (Lydia) Bergquist of Danville, and Frank (Jennifer) Hostetter of Colins, Ga.; seven great-grandkids and 11 great-great grandkids; sister, Roberta Pruden of Hannibal, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
Sadly, John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Melba, son John Jr. and his wife Diane; grandson Roy Hostetter, two brothers and two sisters.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
