Linda D. McCartney, 70, of Burlington, died Monday, May 19, 2025, after battling cancer for four years. Born on May, 11, 1955, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Jack and Pauline (Stout) Lowther. On Aug. 9, 1980, in Burlington, she married Kevin McCartney. He survives.
Linda worked for Burlington Community School District for forty-two years and retired in 2021. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, cross stitching and crafting. She was an avid reader and loved to cheer on the Iowa Hawkeye football team. Most of all Linda loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother Pauline Lowther; husband Kevin; two sons: Nicholas (Sharon) McCartney of Raleigh, North Carolina and Andrew (Sarah Schmidt) McCartney of Burlington; three grandchildren: Abigail, Cameron and Carson. She is also survived by her sister Marsha (John) Wise of Kirksville, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her father and brother Mike Lowther.
Per her wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.
