E. John Christofferson, 71, of Oquawka, Ill., died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born on Feb. 19, 1953, in Burlington, he was the son of Otto and Louise Christofferson Sr. On Oct. 14, 1988, in Burlington, he married Jackie Carr.

In John’s early years he enjoyed barrel racing at the rodeos in Fort Madison. He was always up to go fishing or camping with family or friends, and taking spontaneous car rides with Jackie, sometimes ending up hours away from home. Most of all John loved spending time with his family, especially his great granddaughter that he adored, Leilah.

He is survived by his wife Jackie; three children: Leslie Shelby of Margie, MN, Deana (Matt) Perry of Bloomfield, and Joshuah Carr of Stronghurst, Ill.; five grandchildren: Jordyn, Lexy, Amy, Anthony and Zoey; great granddaughter Leilah; sister Delilah (Bob) Bloomer of Silvis, Ill.. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

Per his wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded with Lunning Chapel and no services will be held at this time.
