Evelyn Chevalier, 94, of Burlington, died Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Dec. 23, 1929, in Northwood, Iowa, she was the daughter of Leonard and Mabel Hall Spilde. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. On May 2, 1953, she married Clarence Chevalier in Northwood, Iowa. He died Dec. 24, 1997.
Evelyn worked in the lab and pathology at Mercy Hospital, and the blood bank in Burlington. She retired in 1996. She was a member of the American Medical Technologists, American Legion Auxiliary, Friends of the Burlington Public Library, Friends of Great River Medical Center, where she worked in the gift shop and a 4-H Leader.
She enjoyed her cats, spending time with her grandson and great grandkids and traveling. She liked playing bingo in the park with her friends and watching Jeopardy!
Survivors include one daughter Patricia (David) Fritz of Burlington; one grandson Nathan (Nicole) Fritz of Burlington; one great granddaughter Ava Fritz; one great grandson Leopold Fritz; special niece Dale Kling and niece Vicki (Stephen) Witherspoon and one nephew Paul Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.
The memorial service for Evelyn will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 12 at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Ryan Cosgrove officiating. Inurnment will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.
Per her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
Memorials have been established for Unity Lutheran Church and Friends of the Burlington Public Library.
