Carol Janice Davis, 93, of Burlington, died Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Aug. 20, 1929, in Fort Madison, she was the youngest of three daughters born to Arthur and Nina Parson Davis. 

She started working at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company on September 13, 1948, just three months after graduation. She retired after 35 years because the office closed to the Dial Conversion. She then started working part-time with the school system for another four years in the cafeteria. Her love for cooking and collecting cookbooks helped her to adjust to the change in employment. 

Her hobbies of doing counted cross-stitch and other types of needlework taught her to make gifts for friends and family. She also enjoyed making pretty and unusual greeting cards. 

She is survived by her niece, grand-nieces and nephews, and great-grand-nieces and nephews. 

Her sisters Velva L. Alexander and E. Jeanne Kindig have both preceded her in death. 

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

The funeral service for Miss Davis will be 10 a.m.Thursday, April 6, 2023, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Reverend David J. Yonker and Reverend Brooke Anthony officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.  A time of food and fellowship will be held at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) following the burial. 

A memorial has been established for the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
