Terry Alan Lassmann, 84, of Fort Madison, passed away at 9:55 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, at his daughter’s home in Burlington. He was born on March 10, 1942, in Fort Madison, to Walter & Ruth Neal Lassmann. He married Sandra K. Bailey Smalley on June 20, 1970, in Fort Madison.
He graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1960 and was the dairy manager at Easter Foods for many years. He later drove the Star Mail route for Johnson Trucking. He was a diehard fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, Indiana Fever, and the Chicago Bears, playing golf and also being a pitcher for slow pitch softball at Rodeo Park. He was an original “girl dad” to his daughter, Tereasa. A title he took great pride in was to be known as “grumpy old man”. To know his type of humor was to know him.
Terry is survived by: his wife, Sandra Lassmann of Fort Madison; daughter, Tereasa Lassmann of Burlington; and his two grand dogs: Bradey & Ferentz Fry. He was preceded in death by: his parents, his mother & father-in-law: Harry & Betty Smalley, and brother, Neal Lassmann.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026, at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with a memorial service to immediately follow at 4:00 p.m., with Pastor Dave Poland officiating. The family would like everyone attending to wear their favorite sports team attire. Burial will be in Denmark Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established in Terry’s memory.
