
Betty L. Ward, 78, of Burlington, died Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born April 5, 1947, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Clarence and Bertha Lack. She married Larry Scott. He he preceded her in death on August 17, 1992. She then married Raymond Ward on June 30, 2012, at the Unitarian Fellowship.
Betty worked at ParkView Care Center for several years until her retirement.
She loved oil painting and was an amazing artist. She loved playing bingo and for years she, along with Ray wintered in Texas and Betty became the entertainment committee for her retirement park. Above all things, her greatest joy was harassing “Hazel”.
She is survived by her husband Ray Ward; children, Roger Dean (Amanda), David Allen, Chadwick Daniel and Bradley Douglas (Wendy); stepchildren, Robert (Dana), Donald, Michelle (Frank), Heather, Chris (Felice) and Michael; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Larry, stepdaughters Tammy and Tina, brother Richard and sister Dixie.
The graveside memorial service and burial for Betty will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 28th at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Richard Johnson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Des Moines County Humane Society.
According to her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
