Evelyn Orton, 80, of Danville, died Friday, July 28, 2023, at Danville Care Center in Danville.

Born Jan. 30, 1943, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of William and Irene Knoch Brennan. She was a 1961 graduate of Fort Madison High School.

She married Earl Edward Orton on March 3, 1962. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2013.

Evelyn worked for Sylvania, K-Mart, and more recently as a home health aide and homemaker.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and reading and loved her family and friends.

She is survived by her two children; Kevin Orton of Burlington and Diane (Russ) Dorsey of Indianola; one grandchild; three brothers, Glenn (Gloria) Brennan of Council Bluffs, David (Ethea) Brennan of Edwards, Mo., and Gary Brennan of Osawatomie, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Bryan Orton, two brothers, and one sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2 at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Ron Jewett will officiate. Interment will be in Long Creek Cemetery, rural Danville.

A memorial has been established for Flint Hills Church of the Nazarene.
