Ronald Lester Rice, 70, of Mount Pleasant, passed away at Henry County Health Center on June 27, 2022.

Born February 6, 1952, in Burlington, he was the son of Lester and Mildred Harris Rice. He was a graduate of Burlington High School and the culinary school in Des Moines. On May 21, 1970, in Burlington, Ron married Peggy Combs. He managed the homeless shelter in Burlington for a time and worked at Townhouse Pizza in Burlington. Ron found enjoyment in cooking, fishing, and playing cards.

Ron is survived by his wife, Peggy of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Veronica&nbsp; (Charles) Gonzalez of Burlington; one son, Matthew (Melody) Rice of Antioch, California; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Robert (Patty), David, Barbara, and Judy.

The family will host a celebration of life, Saturday, July 2 at Oak Street Baptist Church in Burlington from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
