Ruth Louise Strawhacker, 73, of Burlington, died Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born December 27, 1948, at her family home in rural Mediapolis, she was the daughter of Arthur R. and Marjorie C. Gillette Strawhacker.&nbsp;

She was a 1967 graduate of Mediapolis High School. Following high school, she attended the University of Iowa and NIACC.

Ruth worked as an in-home companion for many years.

She enjoyed reading, flowers, and plants. She had a green thumb.

Survivors include her four brothers, Joe Strawhacker of Granbury, Tex., Tom Strawhacker of Iowa, Tim (Lisa) Strawhacker of New Prague, Minn., and Bob (Kathy) Strawhacker of Mediapolis; and one sister, Barb Blow of West Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, David Strawhacker, Bill Strawhacker, and Steve Strawhacker.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The Graveside Committal Service for Ruth Strawhacker will be held at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery in rural Kingston.
