
Judy Sandell, 77, of Burlington, died Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born December 1, 1948, in Summit, IL, she was the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Constanzo) Radtke. On August 16, 1969, she married John Karl Sandell in Summit, IL. They moved to Burlington in 1970. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2022.
Judith graduated from Nazareth Academy in LaGrange, IL, in 1966. She went on to obtain her bachelor's degree from Creighton University in Omaha, NE, in 1970.
Judith was employed as the human resources director for Winegard Company for over 40 years.
Judith was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. She was past president of United Way of Southeast Iowa. She was an antique enthusiast and was active in the Antique Quester's Club in Burlington. She served as a troop leader and board member for the Girl Scouts of America. She was a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, Junior Achievement, and served on the board of Burlington Steamboat Days. She loved reading, cooking (especially Italian food), and traveling for family vacations to Door County, Wisconsin, where they spent 38 summers.
Survivors include her two sons, David John (Verity) Sandell of Skokie, IL, and Stephen Thomas Sandell of Burlington, and three beloved grandchildren, Jeremiah Sandell, Joshua Sandell, and Esmé Sandell.
Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The memorial service for Judy will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street, with Fr. Jake Greiner officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Divine Mercy Parish.
