Janice K. Gerdom, 72, of Burlington, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.
Born Sept. 6, 1951, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Harold and Dorothy Means Davis. On Feb. 3, 1973, she married Larry Gerdom in Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington.
Janice was a 1969 graduate of Burlington High School and worked at Burlington Bank and Trust before working at The Hawkeye for an additional 15 years.
Janice loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her granddaughter Olivia. She also loved playing cards and dominoes, or reading a good book.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Gerdom of Burlington; son, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Gerdom of Burlington; granddaughter, Olivia Gerdom of Burlington; brother, Kenny (Jeanne) Davis of Burlington; niece, Amy Davis of Burlington; three nephews, Jeremy DeHague of Tiffin, Tyler DeHague of Minnesota, and Darby Graham of Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Dee (Gary) Graham of Missouri, Ginny (Art) Mesecher of Burlington, and Sherry (Dan Heinz) DeHague of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one nephew, Andrew Davis.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The memorial service for Mrs. Gerdom will be 11 a.m. Friday Dec. 15, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, with Pastor Pete Hagglund officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove following the service.
A memorial has been established for the Burlington Fire Department.
