David E. Klaus, 80, of Burlington, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born April 28, 1941, in Burlington, he was the son of Everett William and Virginia Ruth Eads Klaus. He married Kathryn Van Dyke on June 25, 1995. She died Nov. 24, 2021.
David worked in assembly at General Electric for 30 years until his retirement in 1995. He served as a Corporal in the Marine Corps. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #729, Ducks Unlimited, NRA and the Quarter Century Club.
Survivors include his son, David Klaus of Burlington; two stepdaughters, Julia Phelps of Houston, Texas and Amanda Smith of Burlington; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia Ridinger and Zanythe Wibstud, both of Trenton, Iowa; and one brother, Steve Klaus of Danville.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. The funeral service for Mr. Klaus will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20 at Lunning Chapel. Hamilton-Walters Marine Corp League will perform military rites.
Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
