Dale E. Massner, 88 of Burlington, died Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at his residence. He was born on July 30, 1936, in rural Oakville, the son of Adolph and Rose (Reber) Massner. On Aug. 22, 1965, he married Evelyn Elaine Siegle in Oakville, Iowa, and she preceded him in death on July 14, 2016.

Dale was a graduate of Sperry High School and was in the U.S. Army during Peacetime and then attended Southeastern Community College under the GI Bill. He was a farmer in the bottoms for 60 plus years.

Dale was a member of St. John’s Church of the Flint River Township and the Coffee Club that would meet several times a day. He enjoyed being the neighborhood mechanic, woodworking, fishing, and holding lots of conversations.

Dale is survived by his three sons; Keith (Catherine) Massner of Las Vegas, NV, Dwayne (Kelly) Massner of Polo, MO, and Scott (Sammi) Massner of Center Point, IA; eight grandchildren, Cassie, Amy, Hannah, Eileen, Kody, Kori, Brant, and Shay; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd Massner of Mediapolis, IA, and Harold (Annette) Massner of Burlington, IA; one sister, Dorothy (Richard) Taeger of Burlington, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, eight brothers and one sister.

Friends may call on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from noon until 7 pm at the Lunning Chapel where the family will greet friends 5 until 7 pm.

The funeral service for Dale E. Massner will be 10 am Thursday, May 22nd at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Wally Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Edwards Cemetery, rural Oakville, IA.

A memorial has been established for Southeastern Iowa Regional Hospice House.
