Anna Cook, 90, of Burlington, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, at the Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.
Born Dec. 19, 1931, in Sparta, Ill., she was the daughter of Andrew and Julia Markotay. In the early 1950's she married Donald in Sparta, Ill. He later died on Dec. 20, 1976.
She was a homemaker when her children were young, and when they were older, she spent many years as a seamstress.
She was very religious woman, who was of Catholic faith and loved God very much. She really enjoyed attending her Bible study groups. In her earlier years of marriage, she and her husband loved the outdoors and camping. She loved animals, especially dogs, and like to garden. She would keep all kinds of flowers but loved roses the most. In her later years, she really liked reading, crossword puzzles and word searches. She was a good cook, and her kids loved her signature dishes of meatloaf and pot roast.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Wills of Burlington; one son, David (Tina) Cook of Wilton; one grandson, Cody (Emily) Young of Des Moines; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Per the families wishes, there will be no visitation or services at this time.
