Nadine Mary Ibbotson, 71, of Burlington, died at Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at the Danville Care Center.
Born March 3, 1950, at the Burlington Hospital, she was the daughter of John Luther and Eunice Louisa Houseman Ibbotson of Mediapolis.
She graduated from Burlington High School in 1968, Southeastern Community College in 1970, and University of Iowa in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
During school, she worked at the Burlington Public Library as a student aide. After school she worked at Iowa City Press-Citizen in Iowa City, becoming a reporter with her own byline, writing news and feature articles. Then she took a job at the University of Iowa in a research study group.
After returning to Burlington, Nadine continued her long-time membership in the First Presbyterian Church and became the church secretary. For a number of years she was the manager of Burlington's King's Daughters Home. She was also a former moderator of the Presbyterian Women and a past member of Burlington Women's Group.
She is survived by one sister, Nola Wilson of Milton, Iowa and one brother, John Ibbotson of Burlington.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
The memorial service for Ms. Ibbotson will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home with the Rev. Debra L. Kinney officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the King's Daughters and Sons Home in Burlington.
