Johnathan Dale "JD" Laue, 47, died Sept. 1, 2024, at his home in Pleasant Grove. He was born April 6, 1977, in Burlington.
Affectionately known as "JD" for much of his life, John grew up in Pleasant Grove and Des Moines, graduating from North High school in 1996. After a brief time in Chicago for college, John moved back to Des Moines where he met Chrys Whitmarsh in 1997 and they would go on to have John's first daughter, Kiya Whitmarsh, born in February of 2002.
John met his future wife, Tauwana Madison in the early spring of 2005, and they were married in May of 2006. The newlyweds moved to Grand Junction, Iowa and made a home there for 13 years. John and T's first child, Michael Laue, was born six months premature in May of 2009 and their second child, Serenity Laue was born in November of 2010. In 2017, T's oldest daughter Diane Cronk reunited with the family, with John loving her as his own. The family moved back to Des Moines for a brief time, then to Indianola in 2019 where John became a grandfather to Adeline Harvey in October of 2020. Most recently, John, T and Serenity moved back to "The Grove" and had settled into the small-town life.
John loved cars, particularly working on them side by side with his daughters, singing karaoke, his dogs and most of all, "His Girls".
John was preceded in death by son, Michael Steven Laue; uncles Wilfred Hoekman and Kenny Hoekman; grandparents Fred and Verna Hoekman, and Della and Francis Laue.
He is survived by "his girls"; wife Tauwana Laue; daughters Diane Cronk, Kiya Whitmarsh, Serenity Laue, and granddaughter Adeline Harvey.
He is also survived by his mother; Charlene Hoekman, father, Steven Laue; brother Matt (Jolene) Laue; sisters Beth (Dave) Laue, Laura Laue, Cari (Ric) Lara, Elaine (Alan) Laue-Vaughn, Kristina Carver; 10 nieces, 11 nephews, many cousins, great nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Pastor JudyAnn Morse will officiate.
According to his wishes, cremation will be accorded following the funeral service and has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
