Linton V. Murphy, died Dec. 2, 2023, on his farm in Burlington.

Born Aug. 14, 1936 in Burlington.  He was the son of Edward L. Murphy and Ethel E. Vaughan Murphy.  They were residents of the Iowa Ordinance Plant.

On August 16, 1959 he married Linda Penrose in Burlington.  They later divorced.

Mr. Murphy was a 1956 graduate of Burlington High School, Burlington Junior College, and Iowa Wesleyan College.  Mr. Murphy was of the Methodist faith.

Mr. Murphy farmed his whole life in the Burlington area while working eight and half years between the engineering department and proving grounds of J.I. Case, one and half years in the engineering department of General Electricity, six years at Standard of Beaverdale, and three years at National Research.  Mr. Murphy was also a lifelong member of the Iowa Cattleman’s Association.

Mr. Murphy loved farming, training horses, trail rides, hunting, and his friends.

Mr. Murphy is survived by one son, Mark L. Murphy, cousins, and his valued friends.

Mr. Murphy’s family will receive guests for visitation and fellowship on Dec. 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Prugh Funeral Service (3940 Division Street, Burlington).
