Glenna M. Jacobs, 96, of Burlington, died at 8:58 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born February 11, 1925, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Jason and Lillian Long Busch. On December 17, 1942, she married Merle E. Jacobs in Burlington. They were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1993.
She graduated from Burlington High School in 1942.
After she graduated high school, she started working at McKesson & Robbins in Burlington. When her husband was deployed in WWII, she did her part in the war by working for Rosie the Riveter in Van Nuys, CA. After the war was over, she became a stay-at-home mother and homemaker.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school for 25 years and was a member of the Ruth Zartman Circle. Glenna enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, fishing, working on puzzles, and reading.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl (Dale) Vickstrom of Burlington, three grandsons, Dr. Craig (Dr. Rebecca Schultz) Vickstrom of L'Anse, Mich., Trent Vickstrom of Burlington and Tyler Vickstrom of Hiawatha.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
The family requests masks and social distancing during the services.
Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2022, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Jacobs will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home with the Rev. Ryan Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Lutheran World Relief.
