Dorothy Timmerman, 94, of Wapello passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Wapello. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Edwards Cemetery. Following the burial a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Briggs Center in Wapello. Dorothy Louise Kohen was born on December 29, 1931 in Salina, Kansas. Dorothy was raised by her aunt, Leona and uncle, Emery Crickbaum from age of 2 following the passing of her parents. On September 16, 1950 Dorothy was united in marriage to Russell “Skip” Timmerman in Mediapolis, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2018. Dorothy and Skip were married for 67 years, living in the Oakville and Wapello areas. Dorothy was a stay-at-home mom – she loved taking care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Wapello – Post 5166. She loved pets, traveling, her friends, country music and writing letters.
Dorothy will be deeply missed by her children, Robert (Janey) Timmerman of Wapello, Annette (Tony) Thomas of Wapello, Marie (Bill) Dideriksen of Waterloo, Lyle (Carla) Timmerman of Wapello and Connie Massey (Kenny Fletcher) of Wapello; 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Skip; infant son, Donald; grandson, Kirk and two great-grandchildren, Evan Massey and Laikyn Shutts and one sister, Jean.
