Nancy Carolyn Vaughan, 86, of Burlington, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born March 16, 1936, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Arlo Eugene and Florence Mary Timmerman Williamson. On September 25, 1955, she married James H. Vaughan in Burlington. He died June 29, 2002.

Nancy graduated from Burlington High School, where she was a part of the swim team.  

She worked at Schramm's in Burlington and even modeled some of their clothes for the paper. Nancy was also a meter maid for The City of Burlington for many years. 

Nancy was a member of Burlington First Assembly of God. She enjoyed gardening and had many flower beds. Nancy was very artistic and crafty; including sewing, knitting, making jewelry, stained glass, rock painting, and made quilts for her grandchildren. She also made memory bears for grieving families and Hospice quilts. She volunteered for Relay For Life arranging the luminaries. James, Nancy, and their family built their log cabin together by hand. Nancy was very proud of her homestead. 

Survivors include son, David (Pam) Vaughan of Burlington; two daughters, Cindy (Curtis) Neff of Burlington and Diane Vaughan of Biggsville, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Miranda, Melissa, Moriah, James, Austin, Karla, Emily, and Caleb; six great-grandchildren, Darren, Luke, Brianna, Nicholas, Taylynn Jo, and Roland; two sisters, Karen Underhill of Apple Valley, Minn. and sister, Kathy (Robert) Cusick of Mexico, Mo.; sister-in-law, Holly Williamson. and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son Alan Vaughan and two brothers, Richard and Eugene. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, at Burlington First Assembly of God.

The memorial service for Mrs. Vaughan will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, at Burlington First Assembly of God. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Burlington First Assembly of God Church following the service. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date. 

A memorial has been established for Burlington First Assembly of God's Golden Year Ministry.
