
Mary A. Mack, 98, of Burlington, Iowa, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at Azria Health Prairie Ridge, in Mediapolis.
Born on April 18, 1926, in Creston, she was the daughter of John and Alice Shay. On Jan. 19, 1947, in Burlington she married Paul W. Mack. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 2004.
Mary was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked as an office manager for Dr. Zeran’s office and retired in 1988. At the age of 16, Mary was playing the piano for her church and local radio station and later recorded two albums. In her free time, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, embroidery, and playing card games. What she loved most was reading and going shopping with her daughter and granddaughters on the weekends. Most of all time spent with her family brought her the most joy and happiness.
Mary is survived by her daughter Paula (Stephen) Stoller of Oakville, and son Douglas Mack; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law Mary Mack. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, two sons: Dennis and Tim Mack, one daughter in-law Theresa Mack and great grandson Evan Mack.
The funeral service for Mary will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Ryan Cosgrove officiating. A one-hour visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at Lunning Chapel where the family will meet with friends. Interment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her memory for Unity Lutheran Church.
