John C. Reusch, 70, of Burlington, died Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at his home.

Born June 27, 1952, in Burlington, he was the son of John Charles and Marion Clara "Maggie" Groth Reusch.

John graduated from Burlington High School in 1970 and enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1971. 

He was married to Deborah Diane Hendricks from 1973 to 1995 when they divorced. He later married Irene Bree Peikert. She passed away on May 4, 2015. 

He started work at Murray Turbo and then went to work for Caterpillar. Upon Caterpillar's closing, he went full-time in the National Guard and worked his way up to a Sergeant First Class (E-7). John was stationed in Germany during Desert Storm. After his retirement from military service, he worked for Shipley Construction. 

John was a member of ABATE District 18. He enjoyed Harley Davidson Motorcycles, playing the drums, bowling, and collecting guns. John was a Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. 

Survivors include his two sons, Cory (Heather) Reusch of Olds, and John Ryan Reusch of Fort Madison; step-daughter, Wendy (Craig) Feehan of Middletown; grandson, Peyton Reusch; nieces and nephews, Michelle Alexander, Carrie Reusch, and Sam Payne.

Besides his wife, Irene, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Reusch, half-sister, Becky Schnedler, and his parents. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
