Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Young, 66, of Colusa, Ill., passed away at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
Cindy was born July 4, 1958, in Fort Madison, the daughter of Ray and JoAnn Farmer Herbert. On Jan. 18, 2004, she married Elliott W. Young in Nauvoo, Ill. He preceded her in death March 31, 2022.
Cindy lived most of her life in Fort Madison, before moving to Colusa following her marriage. She worked at Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison until it’s closing. She then worked for Henniges Automotive in Keokuk until her retirement.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, vacationing and being on the water, especially at Pollmiller Park, near West Point, or the ocean.
Survivors include three children: Brandy (Darren) Higgins of Chapman, Maine, Danielle (Eric Hummer) Willette of Rockton, Ill. and Aaron (Fantazia) Young of Colusa, Ill.; her father: Ray Herbert; nine grandchildren: Madison Willette, Audrey, Anastazia and Alayah Young, Jordan, Rowan, Laney, Dylan Higgins and Zoe Waterman and three siblings: Randy Herbert, John Herbert and Pam Chamlee.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother and one sister: Deanna Bennett.
Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established in her memory.
