Robert “Shannon” Stump, 48, died suddenly at home on Jan. 1, 2022.

Shannon was born in 1973 to Robert and Sandra Harrison Stump in Fairfield. He earned the State Runner-up Award in the Elks National “Hoop Shoot” Contest in the 8-9 year age group with a broken arm.

A 1991 graduate of Fairfield High School, he played football and basketball.

He attended the University of Iowa and graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.  He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. After graduation Shannon moved to the Kansas City area where he worked at Bank One and would later serve as Vice President of Citizens Bank in Lenexa, Kansas. 

Shannon married his wife, Michelle, in 2005 and relocated to Iowa in 2006.

Shannon worked at the family business, Libertyville Savings Bank, serving as Vice President. He was an owner and president of Village Investment Company at the time of his death.

In 2013, Shannon would earn a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.  He was a member of Delta Mu Delta, International Honor Society in Business Lambda Sigma Chapter.

Shannon and Michelle moved to Burlington in 2015, where he lived until his death.

He is survived by his wife, father, and four sisters, Susan Danielson of Iowa City, Jill Burnett of Libertyville, Laura Gaston of Mt. Sterling, and Amber McDowell of Keosauqua.

Shannon wished to be cremated and arrangements are being made at Prugh Funeral Home in Burlington, Iowa.  There will be no service at this time but a private celebration of life may be held at a later date. No memorials or flowers are being requested but cards are appreciated.
