Jean E. Schnupper, 92, of West Burlington, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Jan. 24, 1932, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Horace W. and Florence E. Hillgartner Dodds. On April 20, 1952, she married Donald Dee Schnupper at the Danville United Methodist Church in Danville.
She was a 1950 graduate of Danville High School.
Jean was an office clerk for the Des Moines County Assessor's Office for 30 years.
She was a member of Danville United Methodist Church. Jean volunteered at the hospital for many years. She enjoyed reading, NASCAR racing, and watching college basketball. She had a soft spot for animals, especially her dogs. But most of all, Jean enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Don; two daughters, Lynn Sloan of West Burlington, and Kim (Randy) Foor of Morning Sun; four grandchildren, Brianne (Courtney) Duncan, Zach Newman, Jazzla Jean (Ross) Birkenstock, and Gabe (Megan) Newman; five great-grandchildren, Dylan Jean, Gabe Jr., Bo, Bobbi Sue, and Gracie; sister-in-law, Iona Beckman; three special nieces, Laurie Caggiano, Sherry Kaestner, and Luana Lambert and bonus daughter, Jane Kuepper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert and William Dodds, and one sister, Janet Lee Dodds.
There will be no visitation or services.
Burial will be at Jaggar Cemetery in Danville at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for St. Jude Children's Hospital and PAW Animal Shelter in Fort Madison.
The family wishes to express the gratitude to the nurses and staff on the ICU for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
