Marvel Ann Robinson, 86, of Burlington, died Thursday, June 13, 2024, at her home in Burlington.
Born Sept. 24, 1937, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of William H. and Dorothy Wells Greenup. In 1957, she married Thomas Robinson. They later divorced.
She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1956 and later as an LPN from Southeastern Community College in 1980.
Marvel worked at the Burlington Medical Center and Klein's for thirty years, retiring in 2010.
Marvel was a member of the Union Baptist Full Gospel Fellowship Church. She was a mother of three children. She loved sports and was a diehard fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Los Angeles Dodgers. It was part of her bucket list to see her favorite sports teams, and she did just that. She loved attending church. She was actively involved in her church serving as an usher, board of directors, and mother of the church. Family meant everything to Marvel. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and supporting them in everything they did. She was often seen attending her children's sporting events, and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events. When she wasn't attending sporting events, she was often on her way to visit her sisters.
Survivors include her three children, Vicki Chatman of Burlington, Thomas Robinson of Burlington, and Timothy (Maria) Robinson of Burlington; six grandchildren, Mark Tabron, Jr. of Burlington, Timmya Robinson of Fort Wayne, Ind., Elizabeth Kershner of Burlington, Victoriea Robinson of Burlington, Kristina Robinson of Burlington, and Kayla Robinson of Burlington; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Campbell of Des Moines, and Sally (Roosevelt) Manley of Minneapolis, Minn.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and best friends, Sandy and Lynn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John Jr., William, and Chester Greenup; one sister, Sharon Wilson, and her grandparents.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship.
The funeral service for Mrs. Robinson will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship with Reverend Lawrence L. Manson and Pastor Marcus Timmons officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Union Baptist following the burial.
