Shirley Louise Almendinger, 94, of Janesville, Wis., formerly of Burlington, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at her home.
Born March 19, 1930, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Dennis Henry and Ethel Marie Meyer Chriss. On Dec. 27, 1951, she married James Norman Almendinger in Burlington. He died Dec. 22, 2001.
Shirley moved to Janesville, Wisconsin in 2010 to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and making different crafts. While Jim was alive, she enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the U.S. in their motorhome. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Burlington, the Moose and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Lori Ann (Allen) Donahue of Janesville, Wis.; three grandchildren Jennifer, Jimmy and Matthew Donahue; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of 50 years, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Christy Almendinger and three sisters, Betty Kinnison, Phyllis Byers and Dorothy Ryder.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 9, 2024 at Prugh's Chapel, 317 North 4th St. A Graveside Committal Service will follow the visitation at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Zion United Church of Christ.
