Doug Crist, 73, of Burlington, died Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice in West Burlington.

Born April 15, 1949, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Donald Franklin and Betty Jane Fiscus Crist. On February 1, 1974, he married Cindi Albright in Stronghurst, Ill. 

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving one tour of combat inland during the Vietnam Conflict from 1968 to 1970.

Doug was an Iron Worker out of Local #577 and later became the Business Agent for #577, taking care of Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri. He retired in 2010 after 41 years of work.

He was a member of the Iron Workers Local #577. He enjoyed being outdoors golfing, pheasant hunting, and morel hunting. Doug enjoyed playing cards and loved to spend time with his grandkids. 

Survivors include wife of 48 years, Cindi Crist of Burlington; grandchildren, Mackinzie, Makayla, Makenna, and Makynleigh; and brother, Barry (Suzanne) Crist of Mc Queeney, Tex.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughters, Jessica and Ashley Crist, and brother, Mark Wade Crist.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The celebration of life for Doug will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Simple Gatherings in Middletown. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.

A memorial has been established.
