Becky Koehler, 69, of Burlington, died Thursday, September 17, 2026, at her home.
Born December 22, 1956, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Richard F. and JoAnn McQueen Mellinger. On October 23, 1976, she married James Koehler in Burlington.
Becky graduated from Burlington High School in 1975. In 2006, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Iowa Wesleyan. She started her career as a teacher's aid with Corse Elementary and Oak Street Middle School. After graduating from college, she taught at Oak Street Middle School and Sunnyside Elementary for 15 years.
She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and ADK. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially loved spoiling her grandchildren. She found joy in crafting, reading, eating ice cream, cheering on Iowa State, and spending time at the beach. She also enjoyed shopping and watching NASCAR. Above all, she treasured the time spent making memories with the people she loved.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, James Koehler of Burlington; three sons, Josh Koehler of Johnston, Kristopher (Jennie) Koehler of West Des Moines, Nick (Sadie) Koehler of Clive; daughter, Amanda (Lucas) Neitzel of Ankeny, four grandchildren, Sophia Neitzel, Booker Koehler, Sydney Neitzel and Violet Koehler; and two brothers, Steve (Lenora) Mellinger of Brunswick, IA, and Robin (Lou Ann) Mellinger of Tiffin, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Rick Mellinger.
Visitation will be from 12 until 7 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The funeral service for Becky will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at the church following the burial.
Memorials have been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
