Sally Ann Rasmussen, 79, of LaHarpe, Ill., died at 10:23 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at the St. Dominic Villa in Hazel Green, Wis.

Sally was born June 25, 1944, in LaHarpe, the daughter of William E. and Lois C. Hendrix Bradshaw. On June 6, 1968, she married Richard “Dick” Rasmussen in Carthage, Ill. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 2017. 

Mrs. Rasmussen was a 1962 graduate of LaHarpe High School and a 1966 graduate from Iowa Wesleyan College, where she majored in English and minored in French. She worked various jobs throughout her life, but her most cherished job was that of a homemaker.

She enjoyed reading, and doing crosswords and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a longtime member of the LaHarpe Christian Church, Hancock County Democrats and the American Civil Liberties Union.

Survivors include two children: Susan (Garrett Mess) Jewell of Asbury, and William “Bill” Rasmussen of Carthage; five grandchildren: Bryce (Sarah), Taylor, Olivia, Lucas, and Hunter; five great-grandchildren: Gannon, Anastasia, Adalyn, Jocelyn Clare and Myles Jeremiah; one sister: Clare (George) Burr of Cottonwood, Tennessee and their five children and numerous Rasmussen family members. 

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. 

Friends may call from noon until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. Due to recent Covid-19 exposure, the family will not be present. 

A private family graveside service with Pastor Nate McCarter officiating will be held in LaHarpe Cemetery. 

A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Education Foundation to benefit the Lois Bradshaw Scholarship.
