This weekend's winter weather provided the perfect backdrop Saturday for the annual Arctic Challenge.
The area was slammed Friday with snow, freezing rain, and sleet. The weather may have made driving difficult but made the event hosted by Burlington Bent River Brewing Company a hit with participants.
Saturday's event, which began at 1 p.m., raises funds for local charities. Five-person teams compete against each other in a variety of events, including the beer mug relay, keg roll race, among other winter-themed challenges. For every pint or mug sold to team members or fans, $1 is donated to each team's designated charity, according to organizers.
