Dewain Allan Wixom, 61, of West Burlington, died Thursday, May 18, 2023. He was born June 11, 1961 in Burlington, the son of Francis and Betty Joan McCabe Wixom. He married Kathy Norton and they later divorced.
He graduated from Morning SunHigh School in 1979, and enlisted in the Air Force in 1980. He served five years as a communications expert. He returned to Burlington and worked as an electronic technician at GE for the next 33 years, retiring at 59. He enjoyed target shooting, woodworking, building computers, playing with electronics, and especially his pets.
Dewain is survived by his mother of New London; three sons, Chad Wixom of Muscatine, Daniel (Jenna) Wixom of Mt. Pleasant, and Cody (Bambi) Wixom of New London; grandchildren Delania, Troy, Savannah and Izabelle; three brothers, Gary (Darcie) of Morning Sun, Roger of Burlington, and Jeff (Tina) of Tucson, Arizona; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, in Burge Cemetery, New London. Pastor David Mixon will officiate with Military Rites presented by the Henry County Honor Guard. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. on Wednesdayat Elliott Chapel, with the family greeting friends from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by a procession to the cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Des Moines County Animal Shelter.
