
Odessa Redding Stout, 101, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at The Woodlands in Cedar Rapids.
Born December 28, 1920, in Downey, Mo., she was the daughter of John B. and Bonnie Wineinger Redding. She married Donald Stout on Easter Sunday of 1942.
She was a 1938 graduate of Danville High School and from Iowa State Teacher’s college in 1941 with a teaching certificate. She started teaching in a country school and was proud to have substitute taught for 48 years. She was a Girl Scout leader, active in the PTA, Hetta Gilbert, King’s Daughters among others.
Survivors include two children, Vicki Dillon, Burlington, and Richard Stout, Anamosa; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
The funeral service for Odessa was Monday, March 21, 2022, at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Interment was in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Lunning Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
A memorial has been established for Cedar Rapids Mercy Foundation for Breast Cancer.
