Luis R. Rios, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026, at the home he lovingly provided for his family.
He was born May 4th, 1935, in General Terán, Nuevo León, Mexico.  He became a citizen of the United States in 1980 and was very patriotic about his adopted country.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his six siblings as he was the "baby of the family", and a great-granddaughter.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Liovigilda "Hilda" R. Rios of 64 years, and the families of their five children: Eugenio V. Rios family of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jorje L. (Tina) Rios family of Burlington, Iowa, Laura (Michael) Rios-Mora family of St. Louis, Missouri, Ricci Rios family of Burlington, Iowa, and Lydia R. (Jeffrey) Varboncoeur family of Waterloo, Iowa; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

His most important legacy is his family, as he would always say "Another Rios..." when a new baby was born.

Luis was well-read and a very hard worker, and was employed as a Quality Engineer at Champion Sparkplug for 32 years.  When asked about his life, he would always mention his work. Up until a few weeks before passing, he would still wear his light, red jacket with the embroidered Champion patch, even in his house.

Luis took pride being as healthy as possible to donate any part of his body to someone in need and/or to learn from. Per his wishes, his body was donated to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine to continue his legacy of helping others.

The family will hold a gathering and celebrate his life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Luis' memory may be directed to Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.

Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting Luis' obituary at www.prughfuneral.com.
