Kathleen “Katy” Agnes Nielsen, 70, of Burlington, died Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Born on September 14, 1955, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Tom and Joyce (Swisher) Daly. She married Alan Nielsen on November 7, 1981.
Katy worked in accounting and as a Registered Nurse. She had a strong Catholic faith and was a member of Divine Mercy Parish.
She loved music, especially Neil Diamond, 80s music, and musicals. She loved doing puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and her cats.
She is survived by her loving husband, Al Nielsen; two children, J. Cody Nielsen and Kylie (Zach) Youmans; three grandchildren, Levi Nielsen, Aubree Youmans, and Everett Youmans; her sisters, Tina (Jorje) Daly Rios, Kari (Jason) Daly-Green, and Lisa Daly.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends.
According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
