
Dennis Imler, 71, of Burlington, died at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
Born June 25, 1950, in Galesburg, Ill., he was the son of Clifford and Gertrude (Johnson) Imler. On August 21, 1971, he married Barb Robinson at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Burlington.
Dennis graduated from Galesburg High School in 1968 and later from Monmouth College in 1972 with a B.A. in Business.
Dennis was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish. He was the co-chair of Burlington Babe Ruth World Series, Past Chair of Des Moines County Conservation Commission and Past Chair Downtown Partners, Past President of SE Iowa Builders Association, United Way, Kiwanis Club in Burlington, Board member of Burlington Baseball Association, and he coached Little League. Dennis was the Volunteer of the Year from Main Street Burlington for the state of Iowa. Dennis enjoyed pheasant hunting, reading, golfing, boating on the river, and NASCAR racing. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, loved youth baseball and the Burlington Bees.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Barb Imler of Burlington; son, Jarrod (Amy) Imler of Nashville, TN; daughter, Jillian Allen of Burlington; grandchildren, Ellie, Kayla, Noah, and Annalee; one brother, Patrick Imler of Connecticut; and sister-in-law, Judy Imler of Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike Imler.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from 12 until 7 p.m. with the family to receive friends following a 4:30 p.m. Rosary service until 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Imler will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. Paul's Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the celebrant. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials have been established for Friends of Community Field and the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
