Helen E. Ballard, 82, of Burlington, died Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born on September 24, 1943, in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Charles and Helen French Murphy. She married Roger Ballard, and they later divorced.
Helen was a graduate of Burlington Notre Dame High School. She worked for and retired from Exide after twenty years. She was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish Catholic Church. Helen enjoyed spending time with her friends from work enjoying a cold beverage at Doris’. Family and friends were of Helen’s top priority and loved being together with them for any occasion.
She is survived by her son Eric (Kerry Sawyer) Ballard of Burlington; five grandchildren: Samantha and Chloe Ballard of Burlington, Chase (Cynthia) Ballard of Ottumwa, Iowa, Riley Ballard of Burlington, and Chance Ballard of Ottumwa; three great grandchildren; two sisters: Antionette “Toni” King of Burlington and Patricia Ramsey of Wisconsin. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Michael Ballard and Mark Ballard and sister Miriam Lawlor.
Per her wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
