Virginia L. Manning, 99, of Burlington, Iowa, died Thursday, April 9, 2026, at New London Specialty Care Center in New London, Iowa.

Born on July 1, 1926, in Glenwood, Missouri, she was the daughter of Everett and Samantha Gates Lasley. On October 8, 1944, in Newton, Iowa, she married Lee O. Manning. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2012.

Virginia was a graduate of Glenwood High School. She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, embroidery and canning the produce from her husband’s garden. Virginia and Lee enjoyed square dancing and held offices in several square-dancing organizations. Together they danced for over fifty years before Lee’s passing in 2012. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her four children: Richard (Janet) Manning of Ocoee, Florida, Susan (David) Swanson of Crystal River, Florida, Cathy Moser of Burlington and Tom (Ella) Manning of Burlington; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lee and two sisters.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Lunning Chapel with Pastors David Yonker and Brooke Robbins officiating. The visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Lunning Chapel where the family will meet with friends. Burial will be held in Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, Missouri.

A memorial has been established in her memory for First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
