Nancy M. Baugher, 79, of Burlington, died at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington. Born on February 21, 1947, in Burlington, the daughter of Verdon and Betty Schmeiser Siefken, she attended and graduated from Burlington Notre Dame Schools.
Nancy was united in marriage to Arthur L. Baugher on August 9, 1969, in Burlington, and he preceded her in death on September 8, 1994.
Nancy was a retired Kindergarten school teacher for the Burlington Community School District after 35 years at Sunnyside Schools.
Nancy was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and attended St. Paul Catholic Church. She volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry and enjoyed growing flowers and taking care of her yard. She was an avid reader and Hawkeyes and Cardinals fan.
Surviving are several cousins, including: Dale “Butch” Debbie Schmeiser Jr. of Burlington, Lee Edwin (Jackie) Schmeiser of Keokuk, and Benjamin Schmeiser of Normal, Ill.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, William Siefken.
A memorial has been established to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry in care of Divine Mercy Parish, 502 W Mt. Pleasant Street, West Burlington, Iowa, in Memory of Nancy M. Baugher.
Per Nancy’s request there will be no services at this time.
